I enjoyed the '07 running. It's under new management now, which should help. The start line was a mess.
The course isn't much to look at, enjoy the first half because the second half is a pretty industrial area.
I still had a good time, the finish line is in a great area and the post race party is cool. If you live out that way, or you like a big race I would recommend the race, but don't go out of the way to make it part of your schedule. |

This was my second marathon. About 20,000 people finished in 2007. it was quite fun despite not being able to run at the end due to injury. Out of the 4 marathons I have run it is my least favourite. Due to how big L.A. is, it is very difficult for the city to find 26.2 miles of beauty. I didn't find the course very pretty. It's a shame because L.A. has so much to offer. They can definitely do better. The organization (expo and on course supplies/entertainment) was great. On the other hand, there is definitely a lack of organization at the beginning of the marathon. There are no corrals, which means no matter what's you expected finish time you can just start wherever you want. So, you find yourself making zig zag to pass slower runners and walkers who are all the way at the front. |

This marathon was "OK". I believe they have changed the course since I ran this one, but when I did run it, the course did not go through many nice areas and it was kind of boring (with the exception of going through the areas of the walk of fame). It was well organized, but of all the different marathons I have done (about 8 different), this is the one that I am least likely to run again. |
