This is the first year the Mardi Gras marathon was a "Rock N' Roll" marathon, and was was underwhelmed. The starting line seemed very disorganized. Shuttles to and from the start & finish were targeted only at visitors, making it a lot harder for locals unless you could get a ride that early. The first half of the race is beautiful with great crowd support, but the 2nd half runs through empty and ugly parts of town. (City Park is nice, but you don't get many spectators out there.) My hope is that they'll be making a lot of changes for the coming year. |
